Parent Information
Ellijay Elementary School is a Title I school. This means the school receives Federal monies as mandated by NCLB (No Child Left Behind). These funds are used to provide technical assistance, resources, and program monitoring of local education agencies to ensure that all children have an opportunity to obtain a high quality education and to achieve proficiency on high academic standards.
- Technical Assistance - The state DOE provides Title I Area Specialists, Grant Program Coordinators, and other Program Specialists, who interpret state and federal law and provide guidelines for implementing Title programs, address specific questions and concerns regarding Title programs, and provide information and assistance in implementing various requirements and guidelines.
- Resources - The state Title I division provides a number of electronic tools and documents to local school systems to ensure effective program implementation. We also provide area meetings and a statewide summer conference for local school systems and school staff to provide professional development.
- Monitoring - The state Title I division regularly monitors Title programs at the local level to ensure compliance with regulations as well as to assure the delivery being utilized with at-risk populations.
If you would like to know more about the Title I program, contact Lottie Mitchell, the Title I Coordinator at the Gilmer County Schools central office, 706.276.5000.

We realize that most parents work during school hours and that prevents them from volunteering inside the school. There are SO many ways that you, as an EES parent, can help the school. Check out the list below to see how you can show your support for EES, its students and our community everyday.
We always celebrating "SOCKTOBER" during the month of October. Did you know that socks are the most needed but least donated item for people in need? Our collection of socks will be donated to various community outreach programs.

We recycle markers at EES! Crayola has a program for recycling old markers, ANY brand, into diesel fuel. Save all your markers and turn them into EES for this very worthy cause. Crayola Corporation will pay for them to be shipped out at the end of the school year!
